“Veterans Games — Esports 2025”: Over 600 Participants and a Joint Effort to Support Defenders

A unique project, “Veterans Games — Esports,” is gaining momentum in Ukraine, combining competitive spirit with an important social mission — the rehabilitation and support of defenders.

This year, over 600 veterans from across Ukraine joined competitions in Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and EA Sports FC (FIFA). The final will take place in Kyiv on November 28–30.

The project is being implemented through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, the NGO “Veterans — Way Home,” the National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport (NUFVSU), the Ukrainian Esports Federation, the “Cyberion” computer club network, and the business community, including the company “Epicenter.”

“When veterans log onto the server, they become part of a team again. This isn’t an escape from reality — it’s a path to recovery, new victories, and new opportunities. We want this movement to become systemic and give rise to a Veterans Esports League,” said Andrii Hryshchenko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Esports Federation.

The official approval of the tournament regulations by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs confirms the institutional support and sustainability of the initiative. Ahead lie large-scale qualification stages and the main event of the year — the final in the capital at the end of November.

The Ukrainian Esports Federation calls on partners, IT companies, media, and civic organizations to join this initiative, to make esports together a space of strength, unity, and recovery for our defenders.
